Carter's 1st solid food

Today, we gave Carter his first solid food...rice cereal. Of course, being the big boy that he is, Carter will eat anything you put in his mouth. That's exactly what he did. He didn't spit the food out and you could see him moving the food around on his tounge. He seemed pretty happy being in the highchair too. In about 2 or 3 weeks, we'll try vegetables!

I liked that experience!

4 months old

Tuesday was Carter's 4 month doctor visit. He got his 3 shots & 1 oral vaccine and luckily I remembered to give him some tylenol before hand. We saw Dr. Langdon again and of course she just loved the fact that he was showing off on the table for her. He was talking up a storm, trying to roll all over the place and playing with his toys. At this point, Carter was pretty much over his cold so we were glad he didn't have any ear infections as well.

Carter's 1st NC STATE FOOTBALL game :D

On Saturday, Carter attended his first tailgate and NC State Football game. We tailgated with a hand full of friends from church prior to the game against William & Mary. We decided around lunch time that we would take Carter to the game with us since Hanna had cleared up in the Raleigh area. Carter was chill for the tailgate and fell asleep on the walk to the stadium. Our seats for this game were near the players entrance so Aaron was planning to keep Carter up on the concourse until after the fireworks. Well, the jets flying over woke Carter up instead. Carter did ok at the game. Not that he did bad, he just didn't do as good as he does at volleyball games! It was soo hot...especially when you have a hot baby in your arm! Shew! Carter and I went for a walk before halftime and found this HUGE air intake and hid there to cool down. Carter eventually fell asleep during the 4th quarter but before then we were able to get some cute pictures! He was wearing a pair of argyle slip on shoes and got many comments on them! Oh, and NC State won! :)

The pictures where Carter looks unhappy...those were seriously taken after Daniel's 2interceptions!

Things happen for a reason?!?!

Aaron wanted me to warn you that this is a long story before you start reading! :)

On Tuesday, my mom came by for a couple hours to see Carter since he had been sick. This allowed me an opportunity to run in the bank to fill out some paper work. Every Tuesday, the Clayton Newstar (town newspaper) is published and this week it was featuring all the fall sports teams pictures and articles (I always cut these pictures out for Aaron's bulletin board in his classroom). On the way to the bank, (I was driving mom's car) I was looking around in the car for some change but found none. So when I got home, I had mom get 50 cents out of my piggy bank so I could buy a newspaper on the way to Aaron's volleyball game. I always buy the newspaper at the same gas station because I know they have a paper stand. I forgot & passed the gas station so I decided I would just get one on the way home.
After the game, Aaron was behind me on the way home and pulled in behind me after I turned into the gas station. He pulled up beside me and asked if I was getting gas...I told him I was going to get a newspaper but I needed some so he could pump it. I pulled up to the pump and he parked at the pump on the other side.
When I went to get the newspaper, the machine took my money. So I go in to tell the cashier and she said I would have to contact the newspaper company. I said, "Are you kidding?" and leave. I met Aaron at the pump and asked him if he had any change. He gave me 50 cents from his car and I told him to take my car and Carter home and I was going to go to the next gas station and get a newspaper. I told him to take my car & Carter so he could go straight home because I figured if I asked him to go to the gas station he would say no because the newspaper wasn't a big deal to him. He pulls away before me in my car (highlander) and I go to follow behind him in his car(accord) and stops as he gets close to the exit as he hears a very loud noise. When I went to pull away, I hit the u shaped pole on the side of the gas tank. I put the car in reserve and just sat there as Aaron pulled back in to check out the damage.
Oddly enough, there were 2 police officers in the gas station so they came over. One of them asked me to pull over to the side so we could file a report because the insurance company would require one. I got out of the car, and threw my 2new quarters on the ground!!!! I said, "I hate this car." One of the officers said "this is a really nice car" and then I told him it was for sale on Craigslist if he was interested!!! We've been trying to sell it on Craigslist for a couple months to get out of the payments.
Aaron, Carter and I stood in the parking lot and I just kept processing the situation through my head. I could not understand the sequence of events. It didn't make sense. Aaron and I have been praying about the sell of the car...I am staying home so we don't have that extra money to pay the deductible for car repairs...Why didn't I stop to get a paper on the way to the game?...Why didn't I just take my car and Carter to get a newspaper...Why could I not see this stupid pole?...among other thoughts!!!
That night, Aaron called the insurance company to report the accident. The lady said, "Since she was backing up, most of the damage is to the back of the car?" Aaron told her I was going forward and the damage is to passenger side behind the front tire/door. She said, "I did same thing when I was 13." Are you kidding...the insurance lady is making fun of me!?! By this point, I was in a much better mood about everything but still a little annoyed that we now have to pay out to fix it.
Aaron took the car Thursday to get an estimate and we are scheduled to drop the car off on Sunday to be repaired and should have it back in a week. This morning we picked up our free rental...a silver Sebring...I wanted to get a mini-van :) but we would have had to pay for that!

Carter's first cold...

Saturday morning, Carter woke up with a runny nose but no fever. Since then, he's maintained the runny nose. He has been eating just fine and acting happy for the most part. Carter and I stayed home from church so he could get some good sleep in. I needed some good sleep too since I've had a sore throat myself. Last night, he only slept 6 hours in a row as opposed to the traditional 10-12 hours. Today, his sleeping pattern was a little off. I am praying he sleeps well tonight. We've been doing the saline solution thing...putting drops in his nose and sucking them out. That seems to help for the most part.

On Saturday, Aaron's best friend came to visit from California. This was Carter's first time meeting Matthew. :)
